Alumni Induction Programme – Chennai

Trichy, 18-04-2006: The Alumni Induction Programme held on the 14th at The Aruna Inn, Chennai was an interesting experience. The alumni were present in strength for this path-breaking endeavour of the 21st Batch. There was an infectious enthusiasm in the air which was felt by all the participants. Encouragingly, there were senior alumni right from the 1st Batch. They were all gathered to welcome into the alumni fold the younger members of the flock belonging to the 21st Batch. The event began with Mr. Bilesh welcoming the gathering. Mr. Jose Thankamony, President of the BIM Alumni Association, took centre stage and introduced the office bearers of the Alumni Association.

The students of BIM 21 then made a presentation to their seniors about what they had done during their eventful stay in BIM. Scenes from life in BIM flashed past evoking nostalgic memories. This was followed by some variety entertainment in the form of role-plays and other casual presentations. Ms Ramya had the honour of presiding over the pranks. After the laugh fest, a few of the senior alumni members were called on to talk about their experiences in BIM. The enthusiastic volunteers narrated tales of their unforgettable days in BIM led along by Ms Anupriya.

There was a passionate presentation on serious issues facing BIM made by the students of the 21st Batch of BIM, through a representative, which was very well received. It raised many thought provoking questions in the minds of the audience. A surprisingly short presentation by the BIM News Agency editor brought the curtain down on the official programmes.

The event concluded with a light supper. It was a welcome opportunity for all the members of the BIM Family to socialize and network. The members of BIM 21 used the alumni induction programme as one more meeting where they could bid farewell to their dear batch mates. The meeting facilitated the joining of many new members into the BNA Family and the BNA’s very own Nostalgia 2006 compilation CDs were distributed free, thanks to a very generous subsidy from BIM. It was a very memorable evening for all members of the BIM Family who were part of the gathering.

BMA Issue Discussed in Alumni Meet

Chennai, 14-04-2006: Before the Alumni Induction Programme started, the senior alumni discussed the BMA issue in much detail. Mr. Murugesh Ramiah made a fervent presentation before the gathering to preserve ‘Brand BIM’. He said that he had met Director Prof. M. Sankaran and that the meeting with Prof. M. Sankaran had been very productive. Mr. Murugesh said that the Director had promised to effect some critical changes so that the new institute, which was part of BIM, Trichy’s growth strategy, could be BIM, Bangalore with the BMA’s role being very minimal. A task force has been formed by the BIM Alumni Association to follow the progress on the BMA issue and take appropriate action whenever necessary. All the alumni gathered expressed their heartfelt desire that the issue should be amicably sorted out so that BIM could concentrate on its growth and development.

But once he goes into the classroom, he is an entirely different person aware of the great responsibility he shoulders.
