FINDING NEVERLAND: BIM22 Bids Farewell to BIM21
Trichy, 28th March: Shining girls and glittering guys, all dressed up to find Neverland. Two years ago these 120 odd people had nothing in common, but now they find themselves bound by one single link; the link of affection, the link of memories of many great and some not so great times that they shared during their stint here, the link of a force called ‘BIM’. It was the eve of 16th of March, the eve of farewell when BIM22 officially said ‘bye bye’ to their seniors BIM21.The theme of the event was ‘Finding Neverland’ as chosen by the event managers ‘Kalaikom’ of PGP1. The dress code for the evening was ethnic.
The farewell party started with the usual ‘special’ food in the mess. To start with, Prof. Sundar, Prof. Ramesh, Prof. Raghvendra and Prof. Jawahar wished PGP2 good luck for their future.
Each PGP2 student was given a candle, which got the source of light from Prof. Sundar’s candle. The bonding between the seniors and juniors was staged and the event turned highly nostalgic, as PGP2 handed their light to their PGP1 buddies.
Later, Dharmaraj Sir selected the nominees for the ‘Peter Pan’ & ‘Tinkerbell’ contest. The ‘so-called’ randomly selected couples included ‘Algates’ Algappan MR & ‘Metallica’ Meha lal, Ajoy Kumar & ‘Queen of PRCOM’ Kamatchi, ‘Sensible’ Vasant & ‘Cutie pie’ Kavitha, ‘Aaasthaa Sirrr’ Astha & ‘Syswhiz’ Shantanu and ‘maddy’ Madhu & ‘family’ Sharmitra. After the brief introduction of the couples and a ramp walk, the mementos were presented to the PGP2 students by the PGP1. As PGP2 climbed the podium for receiving the memento, an exclusive song was played in the background for each person, depicting his or her life at ‘BIM’. The best was “Bhaja Govindam’ for Sankar sir’s pet Mani.
This was followed by the distribution of prizes by Sports-com and Fin-club for Yorker 2006 and Yudhvidya 2006 respectively. Meanwhile, to make farewell 2006 more memorable every member of the outgoing batch signed on the pyramid of the ‘Bon Voyage’, which also carried autographs of some of the popular groups.
Then the contest started with 5 rounds where the couples were asked to find original tracks from alternates, answer questions like ‘what is the name of the boy working in ‘OMSHREE’, and anagrams. Before the results were announced, members of PGP 1 entertainmentained the audience with skits and dances.
Finally ‘Sensible’ Vasant and ‘Cutie Pie’ Kavitha were crowned with the ‘Peter Pan’ & ‘Tinkerbell’ titles.
The event ended with the usual, most favored song, ‘Mustafa’, as everyone climbed the stage for a group snap, before hitting the dancefloor. Even though it was a BIM22 show, Kalaikom of BIM21 put their heart and soul into the event and made it a grand success. This event shall be remembered and cherished by BIM21 and BIM22 for years to come.
